I’m feeling uninspired. So many photos and recipes in queue, so little to say about them. I desperately need an escape from the doldrums of everyday life: a vacation, a thrill, or at least a great work of fiction.
I feel like I’m biding my time in my current situation, bobbing along on a sea between youth and maturity. Memories near and far grab me by the hair and pull me under, flooding me with the warmth of intimate moments past. The future is a mirage, and I am drifting upward and downward, forward and backward.
Enough. Let’s wander the streets of Rome as I did four springs ago, wide eyed and curious. Embrace the warm Mediterranean breeze and golden sunshine. Whiffs of wisteria grace our noses as we meander down stone-walled side streets. Mopeds buzz by, and we duck into a cool gelateria on our Roman respite.
